    Default Our Tiny boat

Just upgraded to one of these a few weeks ago, I figured for the price ($399) it was a no brainer to try out.

Sold our canoe the next week. I made seat mount lifts the first week (5"), which helped alot, but today we ran to a basspro, and I picked up some cheaper adjustable pedestal mounts to use with a 3/4" plywood floor setup. I haven't had a chance to fish it yet, but man, its just how I wanted it. I can still set low enough to reach items easily, and can spin 360 deg without having to lift my feet awkwardly.

I also bought a replacement for my 30+ yr old Sigma 28lb trolling motor, A 45lb Minn Kota Enduramaxx. Looking forward to using it, the variable speed seems really great, not to mention it should really move things along faster.

Added some rod holders, and a cheap anchor quick release. I think I'll buy a mount+extension to stick the Hummingbird on, but thats about all it should need!

    Thanks guys!

Was not overly impressed with the difference between the 45lb and the old 28lb trolling motors. We were on a very windy lake for its trial run, but still, wasn't as big of a difference as I had hoped.

Picked this up today from an Ebay auction, I won it for $150! Seems to be a great fit, its a little overkill I guess, but it weighs less than one trolling motor battery.

Its a 1995(?) Nissan 3.5hp. Seems to run good and starts easy. Little boat is gonna fly now

Don't let the wind get under the bow of the boat and flip you over backwards while your speeding to your fishin' spots.

That's a great looking little boat! Now I REALLY want to get out on the kayak... But if the weather behaves I hope to turkey hunt the last time tomorrow, so Saturday may be my first chance. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Thanks!

Just had it out with my son yesterday on a local 190 acre reservoir. Was going to be the maiden voyage with the Nissan, I started it and pulled to dock to pick him up, No neutral gear so I killed it, after he got in, the pull rope broke when I went to start it lol. So we locked it in the truck and used the new Minn Kota instead.

It worked out better anyway, The 45lb Minn Kota made up for its less than impressive first performance on the bigger, VERY windy 800acre lake we had first tried it on last weekend. It really hauled the little boat around well, my GPS showed about 3mph in fairly windy conditions. I had the trolling motor on my end, which worked out best, we worked one of the shallow ends of the lake along the brushy banks with crankbaits. Caught about 10 fish, 6-7 crappie and a few bass, which we were happy enough with. The water is VERY muddy there, and winds got pretty high by lunchtime.

I do see the need for the rudder on these small pontoons for sure now. I'll be rigging one up for our next trip for sure.

I think I mentioned before, that I like those little boats, they fish well. One thing I see that makes me leery is the height of your seat bases, and the plywood sheet .In my mind,I see the plywood popping out if two folks were to shift their weight the same direction at the same time, but I could be wrong.

My wife and I have been thinking of such a boat. We are older and not small, have worried about stability.

Sure, it could tip out, it's not fastened to the boat itself. If we are in waves that big, I doubt that would be our biggest concern lol. It's a non issue for all normal purposes.

as far as stability with 2 larger people, just go for the 10 foot versions to add some extra capacity.
