Thanks hair jig!!! Spawn?? not till the males get the nest ready and water temps get a little warmer. Look at the tails of the males. Red and ragged, nest made. Actual spawn will prolly takes just a coulpe of days. Males stay on the nest and protect eggs/fry. Not trying to start a fuss here. <*)}}}><

Just a lot of foreplay right now. They are just hitting all the singles bars sizing up the landscape. Males out here in central Kansas just beginning to color up on the big lakes and fish are just moving in to the early spots. Some of our small lakes should have some actual spawning in the next week.

It's close my lab dakota can feel it...

By Friday Hillsdale will be so crowded you will have to park on the road to Marysville ramp and people will be standing shoulder to shoulder on the little bull bridge.

Seriously though I was at LOZ this last weekend and the males where making short runs at the bank there also so this week should really crank things up. Just think two weeks ago the water was in the 40's.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D

I still think it will be around the moon phase the 8-10 of May. That is if the weather holds and is nice between now and then. Sure you will be able to catch some fish on the bank, but most will be males over the next 2 weeks....Regardless it will be easier fishing come the end of the week, but I think the females will be on that first drop off waiting.

Default Heres hoping for a successful outing for everyone!

Reports I have heard... today, the eggs are pretty soupy. With temps in the low 80's this week them males are gonna pick up the slack. Everybody, have a safe and enjoyable time chasing them crappies !!

Females we caught on Saturday had eggs that were dark yellow. Looked about like coarse sand in their belly. Maybe 40-60 grit.:D

I don't need them to actually spawn right away, just getting up shallow in decent numbers would be XLNT! :D
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
