Anyone know a report on Hillsdale? Water Temp etc. and what depth catching crappie. Going down Sat. afternoon. Any help would be greatly app.![]()
Check out the recent thread titled "This Morning" by Springhill Duckman. There are several good hillsdale reports on that one.
I was out there this evening as well. It was a carbon copy of the previous thread. Water still at 48 degrees. didn't have much action until evening, then the bite turned on pretty good, from 5 til dark. Mostly jigs, some on minnows. Caught fish over brush piles from 10 ft to 30 ft. Lots of folks from the banks doing well right at dusk also.
Well It's official I'm going today leaving the house here about 10:30 a.m. for the day at Hillsdale. This will be my first time ever on Hillsdale, so I'm looking to just have fun being outside and hopefully catch some fish. I'll post up how I did this evening
Can someone give me some tips on where to fish from the banks. I have fished from the docks, and the spillway, but would like to try from the banks, I just don't know where to go.
Thanks!
I like to fishNorth of the little bull bridge. Either on the rocks or the west bank
Jack,
Fishing the shore at Hills is very easy... two things and this is not a joke.
1. Follow the crowds. If you see several people or lanterns fishing a spot then go there and watch.
2. Find Rocks in the evening. The crappie move into rock areas in the evening to feed. A minnow and a bobber will put some fish in the basket...

It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D

Well I'm back from my 1st trip to Hillsdale. Caught 2 bass and 1 white bass all afternoon. No crappie. I'm willing to try again but with someone who knows the lake. We put In at the Maysville Ramp and went towards the bridge. It's alot different than fishing LOZ. LoL
Welcome to Hillsdale crappie fishing.....I live as close as anyone. It is a mile to antioch boatramp from my driveway. The lake haunts me. I can send you a list of published brushpiles if you like. Marysville can be great. There is great fishing around the bridge and more on the other side. Wade Branch(crappie cove) can also be hot after the north side spawn has been on for a while. Some people like the west end in late summer/fall...Don't be too discouraged by your first trip. It happens to everyone on this board.
Remember "I" before "E," except in Budweiser
I got to Hillsdale about noon on saturday(after picking up a half slab of baby-back ribs and sweet potatoe fries from Hillsdale Bank BBQue mmmm good) so the day at least started off good:D. Marked lots of fish right off Jayhawker ramp and in the cove to the south but could'nt get a bump. Lots of boats on the dam so I headed up there and started fishing 20-25ft. down in 30-33f.o.w. Got a few bumps and caught 1 fish, I started thinking of where to head next, as things were looking like a typical outing, but in talking to another fisherman I found out he was scraping bottom with his jigs and when I did the same, I started catching a few. Ended up with 18 legals, all were caught on 3in. split tail bassassins orange,shad,chartruse-gold sparkle colors. All in all it was a decent afternoon, it's amazing how much easier it is to catch fish when your not sittin behind the HUMAN VACUUM CLEANER AKA:LBM!!![]()
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught!
