Fished for a few hours this afternoon and caught no crappie.I fished deep and shallow and everywhere in between. I did catch 6 largemouth and 1 nice smallmouth though. All-in-all I had a great day...it was nice and warm and I was able to find a few spots out of the wind. BTW, the water temp was 48 degrees pretty much lakewide.

Sarge...............How much have you fished Wyandotte? If you have some experience there, is the crappie fishery decent? Any info on the lake I would be interested in. Thanks.
Does anyone have info on Wyandotte for crappie?
I don't have any personal info for that lake and probably will never have any info since I missed fishing there while it was a KDWP CFAP lake where only a Kansas fishing license was required. It's now a Wyandotte Country fee lake.
Here is a link on the rules and regulations. Parks and Recreation Fishing and Boating, Unified Government of Wyandotte County, Kansas City, Kansas

I used to fish Wyandotte alot until they raised the fee to $50.00 for putting in a boat. There is a speed limit of 20 MPH on the lake, and they will give you a ticket for speeding.
Last week I did the digging on the costs for Wyandotte. It costs a total of $80 for the year for non Wyandotte County residents. $30 for an "outsider" fishing permit and $50 for an "outsider" boating permit. I live relatively close to the lake. At the present time I drive over hill and dale to chase specks. If Wyandotte has a decent crappie fishery, I would consider spending that $80. It's not like I'm not going to spend it on gas anyway. When I decide to go fishing, I go, so the money is going to be spent. I just don't want to spend the money if the crappie population is low. The KDWP lists the population of black crappie there as good, but I would like a little more confirmation than that. Any help out there.
It is actually a really nice lake to have as your "home lake" if you live nearby. I spent the money on the necessary permits and it has been well worth it. I would have spent much more on gas by driving to Hillsdale or Perry. I have to go now, but I'll post some more here when I get off work. And yes, it has some crappie.

Looking forward to your crappie experiences there Sarge, can't wait to read your post. Thanks!
I Fished The Bass Tournament There When It Was Kwdp Nice Largemouth And Smallmouth Did Catch Some Crappie There But Not Alot It Is A Very Nice Lake Very Clean Lots Of Deer Coming Down To Water To Drink In Eve.
I think the negatives all center on the local permit issue. Even as a resident of the county, to fish there I have to buy a local permit for $15, another $10 trout permit if I want them, and $25 for boat permit. Last year I boycotted in protest and know several others who did the same.
I have told them multiple times (like they would listen to me) the permit fees are high when you have to get them all. BUT, I have to say in comparison they're not much different than Shawnee Mission Lake in Johnson County.
Like others, I live only about 15 minutes away and will likely pay and get the permits this year as it'll be convenient to fish evenings there.
