We decided to try Hillsdale yesterday afternoon despite the wind. There were not many trucks in the parking lot. We started out under the bridge on the LB. It was like a wind tunnel and it took everything I had to keep us where I wanted to be. Marked tons of fish. Picked up one keeper, but the wind got the best of us so we moved. Tried a few other areas with no success. Finally moved to deep water (28-32 ft) with about an hour and a half of daylight left and did pretty well. We ended up cleaning 14 keepers, which were all right at 10". When the sun went down, it was like someone flipped a light switch.
That has always been my experience with HD is at dark the fishing shuts off in the area you catch them in half an hour prior. If I only knew where they moved to.
We fished Friday night but we jacked around looking for different places to fish while waiting for darkness and what we hoped would be the walleye bite. I think the water was still a bit too cold but I could be very wrong. I think any day the bite should heat up.
LIFE’S TOO SHORT TO FISH WITHOUT BEER
