I went to Melvern today and had a very good day considering the east wind and blue bird day and the Corp was releasing 500.
I started at day light and caught my first fish around 9 am and it was a short fish. Probably caught 6 or 7 legals that I released thinking I wasn't going to keep any fish today. Around 12:30am I caught a 14.5 incher thinking I wouldn't mind dressing a few of that size and ended up bringing home 15. The next largest size was only a couple of 11-12 incher and the rest were just legals. My pattern for today was fishing at 21 ft in 20 to 24 ft of water around brush located closer to deeper water.
Most of the other boats out there were doing quite well catching fish. I probably caught 3 or 4 shorts for every legal.
Anyhow I was very pleased with how my 2008 fishing ended especially since I hadn't been on the water since 12/12/08 and got to spend a good day fishing with a couple of friends with each of us in our own boat. Life is good.:D
