Default ding dong the goon is dead

For this year anyway. Got out there today and broke ice all the way to where we wanted to fish. Caught some dinks and a couple keepers first thing then they shut off. Went looking and breaking more ice west then back under the bridge east all the way to open water. If someone is man enough to go tomorrow the ice should be about gone but the wind is a bear. As we were heading back to the ramp we started noticing the real slick mud about a foot up the banks and decided they must be pulling water. My trailer lights are now packed with mud and I still had to winch the boat 3/4 of the way on. So between the wind, the ice which is coming next week, and the low water, I think the goon would be best left for those weilding augers. For those planning on trying anywhere tomorrow Good luck and full batteries.

Thanks for confirming our suspicions Antioch. We probably would have noticed a current in the creek had the wind not been making a stronger current in the opposite direction. On a brighter note my buddy did catch a limit on Hillsdale Friday.

haugboss- did you put in at the 75 ramp? Did we get all the ice off for ya? That is a nice catch and I'm not above saying " I stand corrected" Did you go east or west of the bridge. We just got tired of breaking ice to the west yesterday and we weren't seeing any deeper water than where that creek comes in. To the east it just got soooo windy. Again nice catch wtg

Very nice lookin specks! I too have been sticking some in the Wakarusa all the way up through this weekend. Have had to bust ice most of the time. This spat of freeze should make the ice just too difficult to break through for some time. Darn the luck.
