    Default Winter fishing line

Respooling my crappie reels. What type of line is best for winter fishing.I was looking at the power pro at BPS,pricey but salesman told me it his favorite braid. Also, what lb. test is recommended.Currently, have been using p-line flouracarbon-copolymer 6lb.Power pro comes in 100 yd. spools,do you add to the line existing on reel?If so how much?(30-40 yds.)

I agree with Haugboss, I use the 10-2 and also 15 lb when fishing brush. Strong enough to straighen hooks out. With Power Pro you can feel the a crappie just thinking of biting that jig. Spent the money you will not be sorry.

yep its the best..I recently got a deal on a cableas braid in the bargain cave for $5 for 300 yds and its just as good...only problem is its yellow and black and not as visible as the yellow power pro....make sure and keep some mono for backing on your spool and put on maybe 50-75 yds of braid...it will help keep it from slipping...but once you have it on you rarely have to retie...I have had some power pro on for 3 1/2 yrs...

I still use nothing but mono, wally marshall in 6lb is as good as it gets and is very limp in even the coldest weather, use a little reel magic(thanks jeffie)and the little memory it had is gone.

I recently made the switch to powerpro. I have been using the 10/2. I love it for fishing brush. I am looking forward to doing some trolling with it. It take a better man than me to break the stuff and a little goes a long way as you you must leave some mono on the spool for backing.

I'm with Bugman. I use nothing but mono. Silver Thread AN40. If i get hung up in the brush, 8 times out of 10 i will get my jig back. Remember that trick i should you BA ? Let out some line, grab the line with your right hand, pull up some slack, and flick the line with your left hand. It's like a bow and arrow, your jig will pull off of the brush.
