I placed an order yesterday and Larry is holding it as he had some concerns. It seems that the hook size on this head is 2 where as the 1/8 oz head is only a 4. It seems that this hook is too large for crappie.....what should I do? Custom jigs are not really an option at this point..

a number 2 should work great. i bought some jigs a few years ago that had a #2 hook and i never had a problem with them. it actually seemed like i missed less fish on them. i always wanted some in a 1/32 head so i could try them out. i was hoping it would give the jig a fraction more weight for a different rate of fall. but i found some 1/24 jigs so i just use them. now i use 1/32 when they want a super slow fall. 1/24, 90%of the time and 1/16 when it gets windy. it works for me .
I'm clueless as to the numbering of hook sizes but the size of the crappie the ol Chatester is talking about have bucket mouths somewhat like a bass. I prefer larger hook sizes myself.I think the larger hooks will hook in the roof of the mouth and not the lips.

Personally, I have went to #2's and like them better than #4's. I too, think I miss less fish than with the smaller shorter hook.

I have been using the #2/0 for some time. After you see the size of crappies from the 'Land of Oz',,,, well you might be thinkin you could use even :D bigger ones. Getum,,,you'll likem!! They are also in stock at the KC Cabela's. <*)}}}><
You'll see the difference,,,on the end of your line!

I hand-poured a bunch of 1/32 oz jigs with #2 hooks because I was frustrated with short strikes last Spring. Something about jigs clanging the side of the boat whenever I set the hook didn't make me too happy.#2 hooks solved the problem. Also, and I know from experience, an 8" crappie has no trouble whatsoever getting the jig into its mouth. Therefore, the hooks should work fine for the 12" to 15" crappies the rest of you guys are used to catching.:D
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
What's a wasshopper, and where do you get one?
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
You can buy washoppah's at crappie pro.com.I believe Missouri (Truman lake area) fishers came up with the idea. However,I could be wrong. There was a fishing show on Truman in which the guide was raving about the jigs. That's exactly what I need more plastic jigs, you can never have enough:D
