Default Fishing in the Land of Oz 11/21 and 11/22

Here are some pictures where Ron Meeder and I fished 11/21 and 11/22/08. Two blue bird days. First day was 17 degrees and starting with a light wind then picking up later in the day. The second day started at 32 degrees with gusting winds. It wouldn't have been fun being on the lake then.

The first day was all catch and release. We caught 79 crappie with one at 15 inches and several at 12 inches.

The second day we caught 40 total and kept 7 fish ranging from 13 to 15 inches.

Somewhere in Oz between here and that hill top is some prime winter crappie fishing.

Picture for Al's software waypoint locater program for the spot where 6 of the keepers were caught. :D
We were getting ready to leave this location after catching several smaller crappie until our first 15 incher of the day was caught here. Our pattern here was holding a steady jig with little motion at 12 feet over brush. Seemed like they were just comming up and so slightly nudging the jig and on the hook set it initially felt like you were hung up when it was a real slab on the hook.

View at the ramp and iffen there is any rain its going to be messy. As a courtesy for other fishers one ought to quickly pull boat completly off the dirt portion above concrete slab so as to try to minimize mudding for other fishers wanting to use this fine ramp.

I kind of question the wisdom of this post as it ain't that big of an area and I'm guessing it can probably be quickly fished out. But as with all fishing a few feet one way or the other one can have a completely different outcome.

Anyhow it turned out to be a couple of very good days for us and hope other can enjoy the info and not pillage the fishery.

Nice fish LBM....pictures definitely look familiar for sure. You would be surprised how many fish come out of that lake during the winter...and even at that the biologist that serves the lake says that the fisherman don't put a dent in the crappie population. Neverless, it makes for good fishing!

It was a real joy to view the pics. The photos burst with the gusto of companionship. The older I get, fish or no fish, being able to share time, technique, troubles, tortures.................. and enjoying the passing of time with others that share the same interest, is the best catch of all. May your livewells continue to be generously filled with the fishing partnership of family and friends. Wishing a contemplative Thanksgiving to those brethern who pursue our piscatorial passions.

That center fish in the last picture (fish in the sink) looks like it only weighs about 12 ounces. Prolly didn't get any meat off it, did ya?
