    Default Marion Res. Sunday

Headed to Marion on Sunday. Supposed to be gorgeous. Has anyone been out there lately? Curious about ramp conditions with the high water. I usually launch at Cottonwood point. Any reports would be appreciated also. If your out and see a worn out old pontoon with waaay too many rods that would be me. Thanks

we were camped at marion last weekend. weather didn't help us too much, but even considering that fishing was generally slow. If you want crappie, well, I can only say good luck. In 3 days of fishing I caught 3 small crappie. Probably the slowest I have seen crappie wise for this time of year. I heard there were some walleye caught on the flats, and some channel cats by the dam. Lake was 1 foot high and reasonably clear, but we just got about 2 inches of rain as I type this (Friday about 7 pm). ramps were no problem. hope you have better luck than we had.

Thanks for the replies. I will target walleye mostly. But I love to troll and pick up whatever is interested in hitting. I want to check out the standing timber west of Cottonwood for some crappie then drift the flats for a while. That's why there are so many rods. Need enough for a good fish fry and haven't had the boat out in a while. Thanks again for the report.

Well, you were sure right about the crappie. Never did find them. However I was at least able to find these fine fellers in the upper river area. Zigzagging across the river channel in 12-14 ft. Was an excellent day out with the wife.Name: Wipers.jpg

Very nice!! Finally managed to get out there Sunday evening and fished a brush pile that ran from 7'-15' deep. Caught about a dozen whites (deeper end of brush) and a couple small crappie ( shallower end of brush) but nothing to write home about.
