Just picked up the rod up from the Chattster today. Real nice looking rod. It would probably take two or more of my current rods to total the 15 rod guides on this rod. I'm chomping at the bit to try it out but with the 17 to 25 mph winds tomorrow I'm afraid the rod would get blow out of my hands. I'm not sure I want to rig this one with the pipe wrap flotation I have on my other cheap rods that allows me to be careless in case they want to take a swim. Now to begin using a real nice rod without the flotation tends to makes me somewhat nervous.
Real nice looking work there Rod Doc thanks for you donation. By the way will these rods float with the reel on them?
For all you statist collectivist liberal utopians take heed!

LBM....If you are worried about it falling in the lake I can take care of it for you and insure it doesn't.
BD---Curious, what do you charge on a rod like that?
That's a beautiful rod!Is the length 6 1/2ft.If so,does he make any 10-11ft. rods for crappie?
thats the way i read it chad
And to think I was only one number away and now the fishin just got harder for the "backseater".( I suppose you'll want me to start takin your fish off and measure em since I won't have anything to do)
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught!
Dumped my 9 ft. Sam Heaton overboard, recently. It has a 20 inch cork handle that is .90 dia. Reel weighs 6.8 ozs. Surprisingly, floated like a bobber. Just try yours, then clean up the reel.
Sorry, wow I need to pay a little closer attention!
LBM, nice photos of the rod. Glad you like it and don't be afraid to use it. On the West coast it is used to land 20 to 25# Steelhead & Salmon. As to floating with a reel attached, tie a cord around the handle above the reel and lower it into the water. If it sinks, put on a smaller reel & try again. With the graphite reel rings you can move the reel toward the back of the handle which should make the balance point for your hand closer to the front of the handle. The rod blank is sealed at the rear and the 20 inch cork handle plus the air sealed in the rod blank should make it float. A rod this length with an adjustable reel position should balance nicely in your hand, with less fatigue after fishing all day. Less chance of dropping the rod also. If you need help in balancing the rod & reel, call me at 785-828-3250 or stop by my house on Pomona for help.
ChadKU, a rod like that can be had for $160. Also make then with Texalium tube handles for even more sensitivity. They can be made with Red & Blue wraps if preferred.
Rod Doc
nice rod
The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad
