I bought an hds-7 a few months back and really just have learned the basics about it.last weekend was the first time i have crappie fished this winter, and it was obvious that i did'nt have it adjusted right to locate brushpiles.the brushpiles that i did locate were looking nothing like what i was used to seeing with my old lms 332.i was wanting to know if anyone who has an hds model could tell me which settings may or may-not need adjusted, sensitivity, colorline etc. etc..?????
1st off, your HDSsee's more. Find the screen color page that duplicates your 332. Set your sensitivity to no more than 2%. Now the color line, I play with till I get a good seperation of colors at the bottom. This will prolly be in the 70% or more. Set ping speed to 10. I also take it out of auto depth. You can get a very close picture that dups. your 332 by adjusting your sens. Try these and if that still isn't what you like, I will just have to get in the boat with you and play:D:D:D:D <*)}}}><
You'll see the difference,,,on the end of your line!
Thanks a bunch Chatt,i will give it a shot this weekend and report back with ya.you said 2% on the sensitivity?????am i supposed to adjust up from there or 2% is where it should stay?
also what frequency do ya recommend on the transducer,50 or 200 khz?or does it matter?
Prolly 2% max. Heck, I have even backed it to0% to remove some clutter at times. I use the 200khz. <*)}}}><
You'll see the difference,,,on the end of your line!
I also just got an HDS 7 and I keep mine at 0 and sometime when it real bad I will back it down to a -1 to get rid of more clutter. Everything else is about where I have mine. GPS was the hard part to get working right but once I cut all the none use wires to different lengths I have not had any problems.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D
