what everyone else said. lot's of good river info to be learned on this thread...don't know much about river fishing. but guess i'd better learn since toronto is fished out:D![]()
why do today what you can put off til tomorrow, go fishing instead!!!
Nate/Esoxesox: With the ice soon to break up on the rivers/creeks do you think the crappies will still be in abundance. Want to fish both the river and rock creek as soon as possible.
There are Crappie that stay up in the rivers all year around. But if the COE open up the Gates after it thaws out. Some of them may leave but they will be back to Spawn. I've seen the Spawn happen early as the first Full Moon in March. Rock is Shallow so the water will warm up quicker. I'm making a trip that way on Saturday to see how the ice is. With all this rain we are going to get.. it won't be long before we can launch the boat.
Notice the river west of Eudora was clear of ice today.
Hello Gentlemen!
I'm new to these forums, and relatively new to crappie fishing (been a bass fisherman all my life - farm ponds mostly).
I just recently bought a 10ft Pond Prowler 2 man boat from Bass Pro Shops. Have a 30lb thrust trolling motor. I got it for farm pond fishing mostly, but a buddy from work told me about fishing for crappie on the Wakarusa.
Is that setup viable for fishing on the river? Do you all use live bait, or jigs?
Any pointers and information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Dustin
