I want to thank the Royals for giving me enough time to make one of these. I got just the spot to try it on. Even if I dont catch ant fish maybe I can get about a gazillion jigs back. Thanks for posting the origional guys. ps those little holes close to the ends were real fun.

And we call this crappie fishing. And to think I have been fishing wrong all these years. Next we need to get out the snaging rods. big bait big fish.

I have fished a method similar to the welding rod thing, only I use wire coat hangers cut to various lenghts. Depending on how much weight I want.
This also makes a good drift rig...

These rigs are good for moving brush piles.

What size hook do you normally use for hookin these "tunas" thatchu be a catchin?????????

What I don't understand about this rig is this, what is the advantage of not having the wire spreaders on the rig? The Kentucky rig looks just like the standard crappie two minner rig without the wire spreaders unless I'm missing something??

G3 - What you are missing is that the rig is made with 40 to 65 pound test line and the droppers are made with 10-15 # test. You can well rope the fish in and if you get hung the mono dropper line pops and you get your rig back. You now can fear no brushpile.

It looks like you are going cat fishing. I thought you only fished for crappie.

These rigs makes sense for standing timber in deep water. My favorite honey hole is a conservation lake with old oak trees still standing in 20-30 fow. You can catch crappie out of them, but it'll cost you tons of hooks/jigs and time tying on new stuff. Either rig on heavy line ought to make the harvest less of a hassle. Plus it'll sure make bringing up those cat that always take minnows much easier. In thick cover on med or lite tackle they are usually getting you wrapped and getting off way before you can get them clear of the snags.
