Caught many crappie, mainly on minnows, face of the damn and in the trees. Now the bad part, NO footballs, biggest crappies 10 inches, and that was only one or two. We had 7 catfish hookups, while fishing the brush, they are fun on ten foot rods. One rod broke, on a catfish at hook set. Wish I could report a better trip, but it was fun camping out with friends and catching dinks. If the fish are allow to grow in two years another footballs catching time. I would be in favor of a 10 inch length limit. Lots of schools of shad.
Ron, thanks for the report!!! Have you tried pulling cranks there? Those ole 'footballs' like the open water. <*)}}}><
You'll see the difference,,,on the end of your line!
Pulled different bandits 200 and 300 in front of the damn for about 1/2 hour, caught a crappie just a little larger than the crank. The backseat had a fish up to the boat, got off before we could see it. Need to experment more on cranks, had out about 80 feet of line. I did catch some footballs last year while trolling cranks at Banner.
I hit Banner Sunday night. I too caught a few Crappie but nothing over legal size. I pulled Bandit 300s with only bass hitting them. Anyone putting any Walleyes in the boat this summer?
Tom
I had been doing real well on them through June, but kinda quit fishing for them since I started finding crappies in brush a month ago. I need to get back out for them though. I am not the walleye expert, but it seems like there should be a good trolling bite near sunrise and sunset. Can anybody confirm this?
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
