It seems like a lot of you guys fish at Melvern. I got an invite to head there on Saturday and I'm kinda waffling... Has the lake been hot for you guys lately? I'll be fishing somewhere no matter what. Should I accept the invite to Melvern, or suggest we head somewhere else? I'm having a tough time deciding...![]()
Neither of us has ever fished Melvern before, and we'll be in his boat. If we can't find crappie quickly, he'll probably want to startbass
fishing. I don't know... I'm curious to try a new lake, but also it seems like it could potentially be a train wreck.
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
I think Pomona is a better shot this weekend & I'll be there Saturday. Ifin ya gota go to Melvern,,, BRUSH-PILES!!! South banks outa Arrow Rock Ramp. Also the cove West of there that has trees. Tic-tic-tug working very well there. Look for the piles in 15ft. Dey is plenty of dem!!! <*)}}}><
You'll see the difference,,,on the end of your line!
Thanks Chatt:D, LeeinMo, and BrettBran(for the PM)!:D
Looks like Saturday is a GO! We'll probably be hitting Melvern in the afternoon. I talked him into hitting a crappie pond in the morning, the same one where I caught the back-to-back big-uns on my last trip down there!:D:D:D Then it's off to Melvern after lunch.
I can't wait to put your advice to good use!Swing over and say hello if you see us. I can't remember the make of his boat, but just look for Chris Farley and David Spade look-a-likes fishing in the areas you all suggested. My buddy is 6'5", 400#, and I'm... not.
My name is Chris.
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
Squirrels, I would reccomend you flip the order of locations to start fishin. The morning bite on the lake will be better than the afternoon and the boat traffic will be significantly less. The pond fish will always be there. Also, a tip when fishing them 14-15ft. piles on Melvern try not to get the boat directly over them, try to keep it behind or to the side of the pile, you'll pull more fish of each pile that way.
hey i'm headed to Melvern in the morning, putting in at Arrow Rock, look for a Grumman boat 17'. I'm still new to fishing out of a boat and still trying to learn my fish finder and still trying to find the brush piles out there.
