Last year after getting bit by the crappie bug in a major way, I was happy with as many 10" Hillsdale crappie as I could get....
However, after catching a 15.5 incher and a quite a few 14 and 13s...especially after being spoiled with the some Toronto slabs, I am almost embarrassed to keep a 10" fish. Has anyone else experienced this....or am I just becoming picky about preferring to catch big fish....

BA, it's called the Toronto/Fall River curse. <*)}}}><
You'll see the difference,,,on the end of your line!
BA, that is why I hardly go to HD any more unless its fall/winter....I am not sure I am quite embarrassed, but I want the bigguns...I need to go out with you if you are pulling 14"ers in the boat

I have yet to boat a slab from Toronto/Fall River....My dad and Chatt vacuumed all the water from the front of the boat. those 8 fish from that day fed 3 people twice....Very, very thick fillets. I had the honor of keeping the smallest fish that day...It just makes the curse more powerful watching someone else catch the biguns
All my large fish except for one, which came from Pleasonton, have been boated at HD...some of the larger fish at HD are developing shoulders...finally. I would expect that these larger fish are about at the end of their life-expectancy. So I don't feel badly about cleaning them.

I enjoy catching big numbers of fish, generally speaking... I would probably rather have steady action all day on smaller (eating size) crappie rather than fish all day long and only get one or two trophy crappie. If I wanna catch a bigger fish, I generally fish for something besides crappie.
Still, I can't lie, every time I set the hook I'm hoping it's a bigun.:D
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
I totally agree with you on that. The thump from a small crappie shoots just as much electricity up the neural pathways as a larger fish. Especially if I'm on a catch and release day I'll of had a much better day on the water with many thumps than a day with catching only one or two giants. :D

oh i agree, i just like the bigones . if i can catch them . and toronto does have them

Not to talk out of both sides of my mouth or anything...
But one of my favorite moments when you are fighting a big ol' hawg is when he finally tires out and starts coming to the boat. I always stare down into the water and can't wait for the fish to come into view. That moment just before you see the fish on the end of your line is just magic. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning. The anticipation, excitement, curiosity, hope, etc,.:D:D:D In that moment, the fish could be the next world record, or the Loch Ness Monster!
Then it finally surfaces and I realize that my 3# crappie was actually a drum...Still, the dream lives on.:D
