Went up in the morning to try out a new locator, took a while to get used to it, lots to learn.......caught lots of 9s and a limit of keepers.
Had two guys come drifting west from the dam on a pontoon to where we were anchord, couldn't believe these guys, they drifted right into my boat and then got their motor tangled in our bow anchor rope.......had one of my grandsons with me so kept my cool.........that's what I get for going on a weekend I guess.
I live very close to the second biggest body of water in Indiana, it has lots of boaters on it (and not all of them are fishing), so i try and keep my fishing limited to the weekday less knuckleheads on the water than on the weekend.
To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Required
WTG keeping your cool! I should take a lesson in patience from you!
I just got back from a 4-day weekend at the lake. Boy, it sure is a different place on the weekends. I watched a big-ol ski boat send a tsunami-size wave over the back of a bassboat when he roared by at about 30'. No reason for them to pass that close at all. The rest of the area was completely empty. I also watched a jet skiier showing off right next to a fishing boat. I mean, cutting kitties at 30-40' away for several minutes...
I sure didn't see any of that stuff on Thursday or Friday.:D
I lost my cool and hollered at a boat that was following us, serpentining back and forth across our wake while I had my nieces out tubing. We were staying as far as possible from other boats and having our fun while being respectful of everybody else. Then some jacknut on a deck boat roars up behind us and starts jumping our wake and following us. If one of those kids had fallen off the tube... Well, I don't wanna think about what might have happened...I pulled off to the side and slowed way down, giving him an ear-full when he went by.
Then I had to explain to my nieces and daughter that we should never lose control and use that kind of language, but that I had only gotten upset because the other driver was being so unsafe and I was afraid he might have hurt one of them. My 4-year old sits there for a minute, thinking, then says, "So daddy, what was that guy's f***ing problem?"Oops...
Your way was probably better.
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
Out of the mouth of babes! the pure innocence of kids is great, that just made my day![]()
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught!
Kanopolis trollers are really rude. Had one last year head right for me when we were fishing a break with a trolling motor. He told me to get the h out of the way. I told him that since he was gas powered and I was electric...I had the right of way. He yelled that he didnt give damn and told me to get the f out of the way. We backed off and let him troll thru...and his crankbait caught on our marker buoy. We yelled to him when he stopped and started reeling...we held up his crankbait and asked if he wanted to come get it. When he came back...he could not look us in the eye...and his wife just kept apologizing. Sometimes you can kill em with kindness.
Yeah, if my sister-in-law, father-in-law, and wife weren't in the boat also, I would have laughed. Instead, I was just really embarassed. I very rarely use bad language, especially around her, so I'm not sure she even knew it was a bad word until we talked about it later... She was just quoting me, since I yelled at the guy, "What's your F-ing problem!?" Even now I'm pretty ashamed of the outbust, but I hope the guy will try to use better judgement next time. Maybe something good will come from it.?![]()
