At least one lake out here in the flatlands is giving up some nice Crappies. We fished Friday and managed to get 35 keepers out of 50 plus fish. Had planned to try dippin some of the trees in the creeks but never got off the main lake. Early morning storm kept us off until 9. Mostly 11 inchers but we had some bigger fish upto 14 inches in the mix. Next trip has got to be a dippin one with minners. 2 Glen trips this week and over 60 total in the livewell.

Did Chatt teach you how to fish or vise veresa. Love the specks, jigs or spoon.
Mainly tubes like Slab Busters and glow tubes. Water is pretty clear and about any color works. Brown and chartreuse glow did well when we fished deeper spots. Never did try small spoons but watch one of the locals last Tue do well with one. Glen has 3 creeks and both river arms with standing timber making a dipper really drool. Biologist says he netted the best young of the year class last fall. Lake has come up almost 10 since early last year. Chatt taught his minner tricks to me. Not sure what I've taught him.

Thanks for the info, will have get to Glenn Edler and dip some trees. Is there any motels in the area, believe the distance getting there requires at least a two day trip. Knowing you and Chatt are good friends thought I might stir up a little fun.
RM........I have stayed at cabins the state offers at various lakes. I have found them to be clean and enjoyable. Looks like plenty of availability at the cabins at G.E.:
Cabins / Glen Elder / Locations / State Parks / KDWP - KDWP
just one peckerwood's opinion.
Beloit is just 15 minutes from lake. Downs is just 10 minutes from lake on west end. I think Rader's lodge has rooms and it's right north of the lake. Looks like state park cabins have some open dates. Stayed in one at Wilson a couple years ago...first class deal. The force behind the cabins is Kansas Wildscape. Charlie Black the exec dir is avid angler. He's mainly bass fished but last year I showed him some Walleye fishing and got him hooked on top water Wipers. Probably get him out Crappie fishing this fall.
Thanks guys, looking forward to seeing on the water/fish. When a date is set, might ask for a fishing report.
Nice crappie! Thanks for the good flatland report.
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
