Well after waiting on the storms to pass at Toronto for 2 hours and no luck I decided to leave and head north to Pomona where skies where clear. I had a few sprinkles and rumbles of thunder but nothing to push me off the lake. From about 10-4:30 I pulled in 25 keepers with 4 over 13 and the largest over 14". All keepers were 10" or more even though Pomona does not have a 10" limit. I caught just as many dinks. Dippin trees 5-12 ft of water was the best. They got shallower as the day went on. The tic tic tug was on and it took awhile for my patience to settle in but after an hour I had them figured out. :D Minners and Beavertails produced fish. A terrible morning ended up in a good day.
Way to make what could have been a bad day into great one. Those are some pigs. Catching those big ones makes you forget about everything else.
LIFE’S TOO SHORT TO FISH WITHOUT BEER
Nice....Very Nice
Remember "I" before "E," except in Budweiser
Good job, Chad. I would say your gamble paid off anyway.
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
Nice fish Chad! It's good to know the "summer shallow slab" pattern is on at Pomona. Thanks for the pics & post![]()
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught!
Nice job Chad! What color and size of beavertail where ya having the best luck on?I use the larger 2" but finding the rite size jig is a problem due to there length.Often I just bite the head off to shorten the bait. However,I like there bulk compared to the 1 1/2".
PurpleCrappie, I started pouring my own jigs a couple years ago and never looked back. You can put a #2 hook on just about any size jig head. A 2" beavertail fits on just fine with no biting.:D I feel like my hookup percentage is higher too. Some of the manufacturers put such dinky hooks on their 1/16 and 1/32 jigs...
Just an idea.
I am just pullin' your leg.:D
purple crappie...blk/pink was the best. I really only use 3 colors, but 90% of the time in stained water it is blk/pink or maybe blk/chart. In clearer water the pump/chart is really good. 2" size.
I always bite off the head. Not because of the size, but bc the jig head stays on better that way. I use 1/16 oz or 1/8oz crappie pro jig head. Even the 1/16oz has plenty a big enough hook and I actually prefer the lighter weight as I tend to get a lot more bites on the fall when swinging past the tree, but I know most use 1/8 or 3/16. I also have some custom poured jig heads with sickle hooks that I will use and those hooks run a bit bigger.
sound's like it turned out to be a good day for ya bud! congrats
why do today what you can put off til tomorrow, go fishing instead!!!
That is a nice mess of fish... Congrats on the catch!
