Stayed down at Fall River for the weekend and caught several crappie averaging 13" fishing 12 feet down in all depths of water. Managed a few drum a small flat head and a couple gar. Went back to relax at the dock and through in a minnow with a bobber to keep the son busy and would you look at what he pulled up.You would not know this guy could get up so fast and snatch a pole away from an innocent 4 year old
:D It went almost 15"
After it rains I find it really tuff to fish that lake. I should have spent one day in the river but I never made it.
Today I met Drifter down at Toronto so he could introduce me to the fine art of drifting for cats. It was windy to start but it quickly settled down to managable level. I sat and watched him put 7 nice fish in the boat, one of which he was kind enough to let me reel in and I might add only because he had a fish on his other pole. I missed a few and had one pop my line. I sure would have liked to see that one. I have caught some big red fish on 10lb line and this fish snapped it like nothing. There is an art to feeling that cat hit and getting it hooked and he has it down to a science. Thanks John for a great morning and I look forward to next time.
LIFE’S TOO SHORT TO FISH WITHOUT BEER
Looks likke your son is off to a good start showing dad how to catch the big ones. Sounds like a good weekend for you guys
Hey Jeff it was fun....ended up going up to the cove and getting some bait and went back to where you and I finished up. Made one drift (took me across to the boat ramp where you put in). Ended up catching my limit and throwing back 4. Ended up with 3 doubles, never have had that many before. Tried fishing for crappie for just a little bit...no luck, but I really didn't try it to long. Really had a great time and really enjoyed fishing with you and in your boat (with the broken key)! Took me about 5 minutes to find the shad up on that point, oh well, live and learn. Hope to do it again or better yet will try and make it up to HD and we can work that trolling motor out and you can show me how to drift for them crappies.
Gotta luv pictures like that...those kind of pictures will bring back memories for both of you in years to come!!
