    Thumbs up Hillsdale, Independence Day

What a day...after all the rain that rolled through, my dad and I (mostly me:D) had a great day on the water. Largest was 14 and the smallest was 10. More fish between 11 and 12 inches than anything. Caught them all except one on a single tree. Minners with chart. nibbles...14fow 10' down. Pix are too big to upload. will edit and post later. 9 keepers total/15 caught
Remember "I" before "E," except in Budweiser

Good Job, BA!! Nice keeper ratio!. I was out there also from about noon-3pm; dippin minners in the cedar trees in wade branch. they were doing the tic-tic-tug and the action was very good. My keeper ratio though was very poor: 1 out of 20+ fish caught. I talked to a CO out there who said the last couple of weeks have been very good for the crappie and he has seen a whole bunch of 14"ers taken.

WTG Antioch! I went out friday morning just in time for the storms to hit, I sat in my suv for about 2hrs. before I could safely get on the water. Started out of hillsdale point cove and my motor quit but I was close enough to the trees I wanted to fish so used my trolling motor to get there. Fished from about 10:30-5:30 and ended up with 49 total and 12 legals, mostly caught in 17-20 f.o.w. on those cussed minners ( I can feel the slow Chatt'rs addiction to these tiny fish starting to take hold HHEELLPPP MMEE!!) Only had a couple of 12s the rest were 10 to 11 inchers. The wind was blowing right down the big bull arm with white caps all day so it wasn't ideal but it kept the rec. boats & the lake lice away:D. Now it looks like a trip to the repair shop this week, all part of having a boat I guess.

Just an update on my motor problems, bought a new set of plugs & put em in
---- no difference, then my friend up the street stopped by to visit and offered to help( he's a fellow boat owner:D) Well we figured out it wasn't an electrical problem so the next thing was the fuel related stuff and he told me about some carb cleaner called "QUICK SILVER POWER TUNE " got it at Bass Pro and I'll say he made a believer out of me! We sprayed it into the fuel line in a round about way and it took probably an hour of sprayin and letting it set, then sprayin some more before it cleaned the carbs out. He thought there was probably a stuck needle or jet but now it's idleing as smooth as can be:D I hope this can help some other fisher/boat owner with a similar problem Good fishin & good boatin!

Power tune is also a great way to clean all the crap off the rings....follow the directions. I've had several outboard techs say that if you use your boat much...need to run the power tune at least once a year or more. Cheap oil is a major problem with outboards...generic 2 cycle oil that is for all 2 strokers can really gum up an outboard.
I did a powertune treatment on my previous engine....worked so well that I blew the hub out of the prop.
Another help is to use Mercury's additive or OMC's additive....only takes an ounce per 6 gals of gas. Mercury's is Quick Kleen and OMC's is carbon guard.

Between Hillsdale and Toronto it sounds like you got some quality dad time in. A 14" at Hillsdale is a treat. Sounds like you guys had a great time.
