Why so dark?

Here are a few screenshots I took last weekend. Was curios about why the right side is so dark. Even when I turn around thinking possibly bottom hardness, it is always the right side.I have been tweaking settings and getting better but still fighting the shading as in the second pic. Any ideas what I'm looking at in the last shot?

Have you done the coin trick to level the transducer.? Video is on YouTube. Darker on one side sometimes is that side is pointing up a little too much while on the water.

Maybe a rocky point or shell bed.

I would guess transducer position. Sitting in the boat alone, on the left side? Transducer has to be level to read both sides correctly.

Got out this week. Actually there were 2 people in the boat when screenshots were taken. Went this week with just myself. Same problem but when I switched to 455 khz. it cleared up just fine. Too shallow for 800 khz maybe?

The higher the freq the shorter the range it is meant to work. Knowing that, I’d pull in the range to roughly 3x depth. So basically may be no problem at all with the ducer but need to tweak the level of it.

Thinking transducer is not level left to right. I was getting interference on my left side, thought it was prop wash but since i have a tiller handle and all my weight is on right side of boat i had to level that a tad, all is well now, i would check that also.

Thanks for your input. Will be trying all of these. would really like to get it right. Unfortunately don't get out as often as I'd like so it's taking a while. Hopefully it won't be too bad side to side because there is someone with me about half the time. At least the 3X depth is easy enough to check on the water.

Is your transducer mounted on the left side of the boat? I get the same kind of darker image with my setup and it seems to be because the motor is blocking some of the signal. If I trim up the motor higher, I get a big improvement on the screen.
