Ronald, you might want to talk to birddog one. I'm sure he knows some good bloodlines or dogs for sale. I have two black labs that I hunt over and I wouldnt trade them for anything. I have one lab that will run with my dad's pointer and another one that I am struggling to get out past fifteen yards. Not sure what your wanting in a dog. I bought both of mine from Lankas labs in Atwood Ks. Probably wouldnt buy another dog from him, one had hip problems and the other is having seizures, still working on the siezure thing.

Hunted in and around Nemaha County and only saw one covey odf quail and didn't get a shot off. Looks like we need to head west to really get some good action. I am also looking into getting a German shorthair, but I need to do more research.

I hunted in Norton county. The pheasant hunting was good, but the quail hunting was excellent! We were only shooting 4 or 5 out of each covey (large coveys of 30 or more), and had no problem limiting. Only bad part was my buddy's dog having a siezure in the very last field of the weekend only 100 yards from the truck. She is fine now though.

Taking the dog out tomorrow to some public land in NE KS to try to find a couple more coveys, and hopefully get my little brother his first pheasant or quail!

Hunted around Ness City and Jetmore Friday through Sunday, all walk in ground. All I can say is that it was poor hunting. Saw very few birds, Saturday we quit hunting a little early and took backroads to the hotel. Over twenty miles we never saw a bird in the ditch or a field. Talked to one group hunting private ground, 20 hunters got ten birds on Saturday. Not sure I will venture south of I-70 the rest of the year.

Dang, Labs, that sucks! I had heard some good pre-season reports from the Jetmore area. I had planned to hit that area pretty hard when we make our annual trip to Dodge City. Maybe we would be better off East of Dodge instead of North... Hopefully we can scratch down enough birds to make a decent meal at least.

I did some unexpected muddin' yesterday morning. Started out on a minimum maintenance road that looked okay at first. About halfway in with no way to turn around, it turned to GUMBO. I had no choice but to ride it out. It was Pucker City for about a 1/4 mile! SOOOO glad I didn't get stuck! No birds to show for it either, but I guess that's why they call it "hunting"... Oh well, we got some exercise and I think a little (lots of) mud on a 4X4 adds character.

BirdDogOne, what about GWPs? You know of any good breeders? I can't quite decide if I will go for a pointing lab next time or a GWP. Plenty of time to decide, hopefully a couple years, but I like to plan ahead.

I still wish I had a pic of her pointing this bird in the snow, but this is all I ended up with. Well, this photo and a tasty snack...

I have a litter of Labs due early December From a great pair of dogs. They both run in the low 70's for weight, she's OFA Excellent and I've never had the male checked. I'll ask $400 for these. Both Yellows, she's almost a fox red and he's on the lighter side.
