Default Took my niece crappie fishing for the first time

My niece was visiting last weekend. She has taken up fishing at the tender age of 23. She had caught a few bass and bluegills while working in Michigan this summer but had never fished from a boat or caught a crappie.
Well we went to Hillsdale Saturday early in the am and fished until around 1pm and hit my usual spots near the campground. I caught a few and the wife caught a few...nothing spectacular...but the poor kid wasn't used to fishing with a minnow. Plus she had twisted the crap out of her line.....I think she caught one.....

Anyhoo

Tried it again Sunday morning, I caught 2 all day both dinks by longest was 9 7/8. The wife was boating keepers at the first hole.....At the next spot, my niece immediately boats 3 keepers that were in the 11 range....you could see the smile crack her face and the bs started flowing soon after....we hit a couple more spots where she once again boated the keepers.....and at the final hole, she has a 12 incher slam her line..... I was in really deep trouble when that one ended in the basket.

Had a great time even if I got my tail kicked by a girl. Her smiles were worth it. I sent her home with a minnow bucket, jigs, hooks, and splitshot. She can't wait to try it at home in Georgia...

Good deal BA. That is always fun. I have a son who is about 3 and absolutely loves to fish. (and drive the boat of course). Its really neat to see him reel em in. I have to get him out more often to keep him interested in it when it cools down a little.

BA and Chadku one of the best things that can be done is to get someone interest in being outdoors. The smiles that come those who are with you are rewards. Keep up the good work.
