Default I almost went to Hillsdale today!!! Glad I didn't.

Yesterdays NOAA tabular forecast was showing the wind gusting from 11mph to 18mph starting at 9 am for Melvern Lake and it was showing the wind getting up to 11 mph with no gusts at Hillsdale Lake for Wednesday 5/21. Since a friend and I had fished Hillsdale Monday evening and had caught 13 legals we had originally decided to just go back to Hilldale today instead of making the hour and a half drive to Melvern which amounts to about $60 in my truck at todays gas prices.

Yesterday evening after checking NOAA's tabular forecast around 8:30 pm I saw that NOAA was now showing the wind for Melvern starting around 3mph and getting up to 9mph today I changed plans and decided on going to Melvern instead.

As it turned out we had a beautiful day at Melvern and had fourty crappie in the box by 1:45pm.

Here is some of Dougs better crappie.

Here is his total catch and weight

Some of my better fish

Total bag and weight

This is my catch with 7 fish at thirteen inches or better.

Some fishing days are better than others and for me days like this are few and far between especially for this year so far.

LBM....Do you mind me asking if you were catching those fish out a little deeper like the past couple times you have posted or were they up on the banks?

Pretty much like before. These were caught around brush on depth breaks running from 12 to 18 ft. I really enjoy casting the shore line during the spawn when on catch and release outings but know that I'll mainly be catching the smaller males fishing in that manner.

CC I'm still trying to learn the picture posting thing. Doesn't a bigger picture make the fish look bigger?
