Default Clinton (lake, not the candidate)

May 5, 2008
mildly overcast/hazy, with brief periods of sunlight
ambient temp: mid 70's

Fished Clinton for 2 hours this afternoon
Fishing was hot for walleyes on structure, 14 to 20 fow. Worms and minnows on a Lindy rig was deadly. Nothing over 16", but Clinton isn't supposed to have a good eye population, so I guess that's not too shaby. The bite was tricky with lots of short strikes and the fish playing with the bait. You really had to be on your game for a high hookup ratio.

Found some wiper too. Same place. Not near as plentiful as the walleyes.

Fun times.

Oh, a 14" crappie too, on a chart. 3" twister tail jig w/minnow in 20 fow.
LOTS of people fishing the shallow riprap. Must be getting to be shallow crappie time.

We fished off the dam last night from 5:30 to 8:30 and ended up with 4 nice catfish, 2 walleyes and a couple each Crappie and White Bass and plenty of shorts. All caught on minnows and white curly tail grubs.

I saw a lot of crappie at the cleaning station. Sounded like some are catching them on the banks already.
