what do most of you guys tie when it comes to hook size and head weight. I have started with 1/16 with a # 4 sickle and also a 1/32 with the same hook. Do you guys go for 1/8 also but then up the hook size to #2 ? Which one do you use the most of and why?

I have used the #4 and the #2 on the 1/8. Depends on my intent at the time for usage.

I like #6 and #4 with the 1/32,#4 and #2 with the 1/16 and #2 with the 1/8.My new favorite size is a 1/24 that I'm borrowing from a friend.I can pour these on a #6,#4 and a #2 hook.I'ts a great tweener size for me.I'm pouring as many as I can right now because I don't know when he's going to want it back.

I just had someone pour me a few of the 1/24 also. It seems thats what you need from 10 foot up to 6 foot of water. It will or is suppoae to run about 7 foot at .7 when your trolling. From 15 foot up to 10 I use a 1/16 and then a 1/32 from 6 foot to 3 foot. The 1/8 I will use for jigging those deep brush piles straigh down

I have #4 size in almost every size I stock along with #8 & #6, but more people want #4 than any other size. Next would be #6 and not the other direction. I have #6 in 1/8 and smaller all the way down to 1/80 oz.

I even have #4 Sickle hooks in as small of a head as 1/64 oz.

As a cast jigger, if I had to pick one size for my usual 4# mono spinning it would be 1/16 #4 for castability, adequate depth penetration, and decent hooking & holding capability. But of course lighter heads & smaller hooks are less snaggy and can be retrieved slower. Tho many feel larger hooks are harder to shake off, I think a smaller hook is easier to fit into a mouth. Am gonna try 1/8 #2 for longer casts and quicker drops in deep(30'+) water this season, but expect to snag bottom more. Smaller is better, just ask any Asian guy!

    For crappies I use a 1/32nd jig with a #6 hook or #4 hook or a 1/16th with a #4 hook.

I tie most of my jigs on 1/64oz with a #8 hook. But I do also use 1/32 with a #6 and 1/80oz with #8 hook.
