    Default Got jigs, now what?

Well I got a bunch of jig heads today from 1aB and let me tell you I am gonna have fun. Many of you have seen my recent creations but I need some advice. If anyone is looking for lead free jig heads, drop him a pm. It is really nice work and all the ones I have posted before on jig heads are ones he pours.

My current patterns are complicated and lengthy to tie. I have seen hundreds of different patterns now and I am wondering if I need to tie some more basic ones.

I want to tie ones that WILL catch crappie and MIGHT catch bluegill, perch and other panfish at the same time. They often are found in the same spots on the lakes here so a multi purpose one would be useful.

Also, I am gonna paint the heads and have gotten nail polish to do so. Sorry, no powder paint, they are all lead free. So I need head colors to go with them. As for eyes, maybe I can get the wife to paint on eyes as her hands are a lot steadier than mine. Or should I leave the heads plain and just put eyes on them since they will be shiny and stay that way with a clear coat?

Actually I was thinking of doing the Sickle Butt for the swap but I am open to suggestions. I want to make sure I am tying something that will catch fish but can personalize somehow. Definitely want to see yours though. I have some material I want to try out and maybe I can incorporate it into another pattern. I have flashy material that won't be too bright or gaudy so I want to try and incorporate that into a pattern to see if a lot of flash in a known pattern will prove deadlier than the original.

What do you think of this rainbow colored one? The picture is descent but doesn't catch the colors perfect. I was thinking the color looks a lot like a pea mouth chub or similar bait fish, maybe a thread fin minnow, maybe even a small bluegill. More important, could it be a fish catching coloration? Is flashy but is a subtle flashy.

I know the peamouth chub changes coloration a lot when larger but when small their coloration is a lot like the floss.

It would be excellent that's alot of the color's I use in the 15' range might be alittle flashy shallow but I'd try it.Proably a hot/pink head with silver flash tail just a touch of white? Yea I went back and looked at the sickle butt those colors would be a SSSSSMMMOker!!

I think that a sickle butt jig would be perfect for the swap.Flatfish's color choices for the head and tail would make a killer bait. I'd love to have one myself. Those sickle butts are something i would never have the patience to do.I'ts one killer looking bait.
