    Default Jig Organizer Box Tips

While "working" today I thought I'd take some time and get my jigs organized so that I can find out what I'm short on, etc. I had all my various jig hooks in different small container boxes. So I had picked up a larger organizer box and tossed my jig hooks in...

I then labeled each compartment with the jig weight and the hook size...

Two things immediately started bugging the heck out of me... (1) hooks were getting jammed between the dividers and (2) that box was noisy whenever I moved it around. So I set out to remedy those problems. I grabbed some of the thin packing foam that you'd find in various electronics boxes.

TIP: Go to the electronics stores and ask them if they have any foam inserts being thrown away and ask if you can take them. Be sure to tell them why you need it and they will be more apt to save some for you so that you'll have a steady supply!

Next you'll want to measure the space of the compartment and then cut the foam to fit. Test it out and if you have several compartments of the same size, just use that first piece as a template and cut out the number of inserts that you need.

Unless you have a memory that never forgets... write down the jig weight and hook size on a piece of paper and tape it to the inside of the compartment. If you have really small jigs, put them in a plastic baggie and put in the piece of paper with the jig weight and hook size for quick reference.

Now here's a look at the before and after!

Hope this tip has been of benefit to you!

Looks good! I've been thinking of gluing down the dividers in my boxes. The dividers slip up and allow the hooks, sinkers, jigheads, etc. to mix and go all over the place. I like the idea of the foam to quiet down the box.

    Default boxes

I do jigs in pill bottles and plastics in zip bags all in the deep plano stow away.
I have way more stuff than i can fit in one box now though so come spring ill reorganize for having 2 boxes. With this system all my stuff stays clean no matter what and if i only need 2 or 3 things i can put them on the deck with me or in cup holder and i dont have to have a bunch of boxes all open waiting to fall over.

The thin foam is a good idea, and if you do glue in your dividers just use a little clear silicone works well and easy to move if you need to at a latter date.
