    Default How to's sub-forum?

I am wondering what the admins would think about setting a sub-forum or some other area for how-to's? - something like Tackle Underground has with the member-submitted tutorials.

There have been some unique pics of jigs posted recently - and I would really love more info on how to do some of this stuff.....ie Fowlmoods panfish jigs, and some of the woven jigs (fish 4 all) are examples.

So if there was an area where how-tos could get saved (and not lost/buried as the forum grows), and the original posters or someone else (familar w/ a technique) was willing to do the work to provide the info, it could be a great asset to all.

Files, etc could be zipped to save server space, etc.

I realize this might be asking alot....

    Thoughts?

Well all these you speak of are fly tying techniques and can be found on several fly tying web sites.

This board is for the how to for jig tying. I suspect if you save what post you want in your favorites they will be easy to get back to. I believe if you started a How to board it would end up just like this one or even the main crappie board as people talk about how to stuff all the time on every board on this site. Some want a board just for jig pictures so if we have a how to board and a picture board there is then no need for this one as that is all this is for.

Just something for you to think about.

Can't argue w/ your thoughts Skip.

    Consider it withdrawn.

CP on the main board had an idea that may work for the pics using a sticky for the pictures, but I am not sure that wont get out of hand pretty fast. need to think a bit about that and maybe just give it a shot.

Sending you a PM for info.

Here is my thought on the sticky:
Make it more as a jig recipe thread. If 3 or more people show interest on how to make it, permission can be given from the mod to post in the sticky with a GOOD pict and tying directions. Maybe 1st post in the thread (by mod) should say "only directions can be posted, no responses, have good pict with max width 400 pixels, mod will remove things deemed as junk, etc. kinda like directions. One draw back I can see is the mod would have to monitor that thread and get rid of things that were not recipes. Not sure how much extra work that would be for ya Skip. Thats what I've got.

Did I spell recipe right?? Just doesn't look right to me!

Well the original idea was for a picture sticky and not a recipe sticky, but maybe both would work.

I guess it will be easy to monitor for a while, but at some point it could get out of hand with 20 pages or more.

I am thinking about this and maybe a sticky will make both camps happy. I may even have a sticky for both and then after they have been up for some time (to be picked later) and then deleted to make more room??

Don't know, but let me run this over in my mine which is not working very well today as I have a bug and have to tie an order.
