We ran into problems Friday evening on the lake the fish were suspended deep after hitting about 29 brush piles and 3 pvc trees without a bite I headed to the open water and found them only problem was the light jigs were hard to feel so Ibuilt these boat ancors these are 1/4 weight will these work better in deep water !!!!
P.S. you can referrence so good areas on backdrop if you like.

When fishing deeper water even in summer I always use either 1/8 oz. or 1/4 oz. Even in the spring if I am trolling water say 9' to 14' and the wind is up instead of long line trolling my 1/32 & 1/16 ( go to a 1/8 or 1/4 and just trolling right next to where I am sitting in the boat.
I also like heavier jigs when fishing the one little bridge near where I live.

Thanks Skip these just looked huge you got to under stand when I bass fished I threw 1/2 oz. jigs and most people I've talked to use smaller jigs but, they never said if they were fishing deep.
i do the same thing in deep water but here in ga i very rarly go over 1/8
but head size dont realy matter as long as the rest is what they wanting
Alan
I use 1/8 and 1/4 all the time. 1/4 is really my go to size.
I think that body size matched to baitfish size makes more of a difference to the fish...if you can put it in the strike zone and keep it there the weight is secondary..go getum with that boat anchor, I bet it will work especially with those good looking jigs...how can they resist them...brim
A man is not judged by what he has done for himself but by what he has done for others.
But with my 1/4 I use a #4 hook, sometimes #2. Makes the jig body the same with just a fat head.
Have you tried them boat anchors out yet FF? gotta lemme know how they worked when you do...........brim

1/2 oz jig head with a 1/0 hook. the whole bait is 3" long.
I use these big heads in any water over 20' deep.
How about tying some feathers to this bad boy!

Well if they don't bite it you can knock them out with it instead
