    Default zonked rabbit

what`s the brst way to tie in rabbit? do you clip it off the hide or wrap the strip? I seen some flys that just tie it in and clip the strip behind the hook.

Zonkers are made to be tied to the hook with the fur on the hide. You can get cheaper rabbit fur to tie other jigs/flies using just the fur. There are a few different ways to tie on the zonkers and each tyer will have their why they like the best. I made a video a couple years ago so maybe it will help you get started tying it. You can just tie it to the hook but this way will help you get a good start on how it works.

I tie them in Near the bend of the hook if tying crosscut rabbit above that, actually both are tied in about that same spot. I do always use a little super glue on the place I tie that in before I wrap the crosscut piece. If you tying chenille body with a zonker tail then I think you could tie it in closer to the head then, but no real need to do that if it's tied in really well just above the bend spot.

Almost forgot I made a slide show for tying a crosscut rabbit strip which should help with what I said above.

Also know if I was tying in a zonker it would be tied in about the same spot and then if I add the crosscut it would tie in at the end of where the zonker was tied in with an over lap. Hope that is clear??
