    Default vinyl paint question

Ok guys Ive only used powder paint and love it but i have a project I'm working on that will need vinyl and I was wondering if someone that knows how to use it well would go over the basics for me.

Like any tips or drying methods blah blah blah

my self i dip the head into the paint, hold it above the paint to allow it to drip off. then i gently blot the excess off on a paper towel. then i hung them upside down on a piece of fishing line that i have tied between 2 boards that look like the up rights of a football feild. allow them to dry for about a hr then redip if needed, if not i dip into clear coat and repeat the process

I do the same as pbug2009 we've been using vinyl paint for many years. We especially like it for making eyes. It dries quick and that's what I like about it when I use it.

Make sure to put white base on first. You can also brush it if you don't need it to be perfect and I have done that a good bit. Just carry a sort of heavy coat so it will smooth out some. It is possible to air brush it too, but need thinner retarder so help with the spider effect that you get with vinyl and air brush. It can make a mess then too.

No Problem, if it didn't need that darn base coat I would like it more then I do. I still use it for eyes on Roadrunners even if I powder paint the heads.

make sure you have plenty of ventilation. don't use it in the house, she'll kill you. lol I undercoat with white first, and usually thin the stuff some everytime I use it, especially out in the cold garage. keep the level in the jar near the top, for easy dipping, and when ya dip the jig, pull it out real slow and most of the excess will stay in the bottle. stick it in the edge of a cardboard box nose down, and after about 30 secs. you'll notice a drip on the nose, take and dab this off on a scrap of something. you have to dab this drip off within 60 secs probably or the paint will have skinned over, making the head look bad when ya go to dab it. this paint takes a week or so to get nice and hard, and I like to clear coat it with seal coat, which is super hard and slick when dry, altho it lightens up a dark color because it's a little milky, just fine on chart. and white etc. tho.
