What do they do, tie them round like a kiptail jig?

Jungle Jim would know. Listen to what he says....he mastered the duck feather crappie jig a long time ago. His are some of the best all around jigs I've seen, and I've seen a lot of them.

Mallard flank jigs have been around a long time. The folks at Punisher lures make the Float n Fly jigs and if you want some good examples check there. Mix and match head colors and yes you can dye the mallard feathers, lot's of guys use koolaid.
