    Default Grey chenille and maribou

I get mine from Flatfish46, a member at CDC!
He is the cheapest around , quick shipping, reasonable shipping,
very knowledgeble and a great guy to deal with!!
You can reach him at Crazy Angler Tackle in Winona, Texas.
His web site is listed on any of his posts.

The gray marabou I use color name is Dun I believe, Silver Tinsel chenille and there are 2 colors of gray chenille, I like the brighter one myself. I get most of my stuff at Jann's Netcrafters just because it is sorta local and an actual Ohio based store. I try to spend my money close to home if possible.

Crazy Angler does have an advantage..... Good service and some of his stuff you simply won't find anywhere else.

I've picked up some good greys from Barlow's Tackle... and here are a few pics showing some jigs with the greys....

and this is one of my favorite patterns for the greys and that "minnow" look I'm shooting for:

Flatfish46 would be good, but most every fly shop I use on line has gray or dun or some even have more than one shade of gray.

Bob Marriott's and Barlow's Tackle both should also have that, but give FF46 a shot first.

Thanks guys, I have placed my order w/ Flatfish46!! I'm wondering AW and others how do you get the eyes paint on the jighead so nicely? I use powder paint and so what type of paint do I need to get to try the eyes? Thanks!

Nail polish - ie Salley Hansons....is what us manly jig tying men use.....

I have a set of 'dotters' made from various sizes of finishing nails - ie brads, 4p, 6p, etc
driven in to the ends of some dowels....

I put a drop or two of Salley on a piece of plastic - ie the top from a can of Planters peanuts, then touch the droppers to Salley - and then to the given jig head.

If you smear on the jig head, it will wipe off if you do it (wipe) right away.

Try Tackle-craft.com for marabou fluffs. Ordered from TC for too many years and more recently have been getting some marabou from Barlow's.

For the eyes I use fabric paint (called 3D paint). I went to a hobby shop and bought some foam and cut it in two different sizes and glued one on each end of a chopstick! One end for the background of the eye, one for the foreground of the eye. Once dried and coat the head with Hard-As-Nails and off you go!!

Not to go against my dot com brothers but I found a lot of my stuff at BPS. I will also tell you that they are expensive, twice or more than most others. I travel a lot and it's easy for me to pull in and ask a couple of questions and pick up a bag o feathers or a spool o thread. Crystal chenille and tinsel chenille are looking and working very good for me lately. You might look into some flash or angel hair for a bit of shimmer in the jig. Red angel hair that I'm using is thin enough to flow along with the maribou. I'll be ordering a bunch of stuff from Crazy or someone soon but I had to get off the ground. Just my two cents.
    Wake me up early,
    Be good to my dogs,
and teach my children to pray.
