    Default Me too!

I too would like to know what I have to do with chicken feathers before using them. Not necessarlly to change colors, but to sanitize them. Same with
deer, coyote, racoon and other fur bearers.

    Default Sanitizing

crappiekiller3 on all raw materials such as chicken in animal. On animal hides if they are green I'm saying is if you scan them right off the animal you must make sure that all fat is trimmed away. On chicken the same thing. I used Borax for animals. Chicken feathers can be washed in light soapy water and onto dry. If they are rooster saddles just put Borax on the back side and let dry. That should deodorize everything that you've mentioned. You can worship animal hides with soapy water. Which does a good job it's doing two things for you. It is cleaned up for and also making it smell a lot better. I was a trapper for 15 years. I wish I had all the hides that I sold. Catch you later my friend bob.:D

    Default Thanks, Bob

Thanks Bob, the neighbor started raising chickens and has a couple barred
rock hens that I drool over every time I mow the lawn! She has offered to
give them to me when they molt. Just wondered what to do with them.
I like the yellow barred rock and also grey for walleye jigs. They love em!

I don't know how many I'll get from my neighbor and I also have another source as well. When I get them I'll send some up for you to use. I'm sure I'll
get more than I want to tie jigs with. I have never bought animal hides as I am offered deer tails and other critters often. In fact a buddy of mine just
came over with a tail from an 8 point buck! It is really a pretty tail almost
variegated with brown, white and black colors.
