Covering thread with hard as nails clear.
I wrapped the thread down that far to make the tail pull in instead of fluffing out so much. How would you normally overcome that? I started with a loose wrap first and tightened it to the bobbin tension.
You are seeiing correctly that is thread. Danville 6/0 flat waxed.
I appreciate the help and welcome any comments. They will help fine tune or completely change my process.

If that is all thread then I would say don't wrap it quite so far down the shank. If it was chenille that is about the right length for the body. Also I am not sure you need as much thread as you have on there.
I would have to know a little more to be positive about what I see. A thread neck jig is usually narrower at the neck and is not really a body. If I am seeing this wrong then met me know.
Get a double edge razor to trim the excess hair off at the head being careful not to cut your thread.
One last thing, resize your pictures so hat the big side is no more than 640 pixels. So that or less and it will fit the Internet better.
