Ya'lls Homemade Jigs

Are awesome. If I was fishing with them and broke one off I would have to jump in and go find the fish and get it back. Them ain't lures ya'll are making that is artwork and your pride shows in all I have seen on here. Kudo's to you all I wish I had the patience.

Thanks and just be careful when you start looking at supplies. Material you use can make a big difference. Examples: Chenille I use is very different than what you will find at Walmart and tying thread is different than the Thread at Walmart. The thread at Walmart will work better than the chenille. Lots of things are different and work better if made for fly/jig tying.

When you start just take your time. Look at catalouges, here at the site and go for it. You'll pick it up quick enough and then you'll be hooked.

I just bought a slightly used tying kit off ebay a couple of weeks ago. I have looked through the book and stuff and been lurking in this list to get some ideas on how to use things like a whip finisher, etc. I am about ready to start trying it though. I used to fish over at Grenada when I was a kid and a friend of the family worked for a jig maker over there. they ties a white hair jig on a 1/16th head, it was a white head, black eye, with white hair and 2 silver tinsel strips on the back of the hair. it was finished off with red thread. That jig was so good that it was not funny. I lost the last of the ones I had over 20 years ago and have never seen them since. I wish I had a picture for you guys, but that is what I want to try my hand at first. If I can get a decent looking one, I will post it for you to see. I know it sounds really basic, but it was a fish killer over at Grenada just below the dam which is where we always fished.
