I'm a fairly new jig tier...

I've been tying for maybe a year not done alot....just moved and started a new job, so gettin into it again. I'm ten minutes from a nice lake. But here are some pics of mine, would like some feedback, and what changes or additions ya'll think I should add or change. Thanks!

AC, from what I can tell, you're jigs are lookin good. I really like the color combinations- esp. the blues. I'm positive your jigs will catch fish. The more you tie, the more you want your jigs to look good not only for the eye of the fish, but for the eye of the human. It's an interesting evolution that each jig tyer goes through. Once you start thinking beyond catchability and into proportionality, (not even sure that the two ideas can even really be separated) start looking at as many jig and fly and baitfish pics as you can. I started off tying flies, and correct proportions are key to tying an imitative insect pattern. Then I went to jig tying and carried the same ideas with me.

So, scroll through the archives here on C.C, look through the jig pics sticky at the top of the page, and even google pictures of shad and other baitfish, and keep those images in mind when you tie. And hey, it's good to have another Okie on the jig tying board

Looks good to me.

Tie regularly and you'll become even better. It'll happen pretty quickly.

A suggestion...

Purchase a flush cutter (or use a pair of side cutters) to remove the barbs from your jig collars. I've pictured one below.

Use it before painting your jig heads. I noticed a couple of jigs where a barb either protruded or produced a hump in your chenille.

BTW, my brother lives in Harrah, OK and works at Tinker AFB.

Nothing wrong with them. Time will make you a better tier but those will catch fish for sure.

Those will work,nothing like catching fish on something you made yourself.Once you do then you are really hooked on the tying part.The more you tie the better you get.

Anyone have any advice or tricks to puttin eyes on them? And how do you decide the color combo that you will use?

Nice mess of jigs!!!! Don't buy anything special to knock the barbs off the collars just use a pair of needle nose pliers and spend the extra bucks on more materials.
