And that may be a free style", do what ever floats your boat w/ no holds barred in design ,color ,and size" that is w/in reason...those who consistently send in 1/4oz.and 5/32oz.jigs may be due to all they have access to?1/16oz.is pretty sufficient as heaviest crappie jigs I have ever even thought of using",but to each his own,but may not be able to afford it as its been argued before nearly every other swap"everyone here knows someone who pours, barters ,buys, swaps them in all lead, and hook"sizes."Ask them! they can find ya anything you want here next to nothing, even if for anything more than maybe a secret tip or two...,"we may surprise you?!:D

"WELL"...YOU ASKED"NOBODY TELLS ME NOTH'N!!!
My personal thought is the host has the ultimate say in how HE/SHE runs it. Why do you need any other rules? Remember.... THESE ARE JIGS!!!!
If you announce when a swap sign-up will be (with no pre-sign-up's) to fill 20 spots, I have a feeling it will come down to who can type the fastest. There will still be complaints.
Run more swaps with smaller numbers and you will have a choice which one to do by the criteria set by the host.... you don't like how it sounds, don't get in. Why restrict people being in only one swap at a time? But I also think there needs to be a seperate place to have these swaps, on a seperate board! at the top of the jig tying board. The clutter from swap threads and questions is nearly filling up the whole first page. If any newbie comes on here, they will think you have to be in a swap to learn how to tie a jig.AW - Is this even possible?
My beef with bigger numbers is not cost, time, turnaround, size restrictions, material shortage and so on.......... it's having to make the same jig - over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and..........
Waaaaaay too many rules coming out here... I agree GF, this is not rocket science, these are jigs. This is meant to be fun. With the number of rules I see coming out here, OSJ's solution sounds about right & I don't see myself getting into many more.

BY THE SAME TOKEN THERE'S ONLY ANOTHER 6 MORE GUYS ON AVERAGE WHO WANT IN!!! AFTER ALL" IF 20 ARE EXCEPTABLE,LET ALONE THE SORRY 15CT. No" structure "All CHAOS!Its not working this way .It was evident to the last 6 participants I spoke w/ that the line up of this #12 swap was not" by order of which the folks showed up in the post,as a matter of fact 3 don't show up at all in the order of the line up.chaos due to lack of structure!I honestly believe left to certain influences here ,I would eventually be reading in the paper about litigation pertaining to some ones wife not being returned in the condition in which she left for a swap here at C.C..."

I'm sure that it is but it would be a call on the part of the Crappie.com Administrators and Moderators to get a child board set up just for these swaps.
But I do agree in that it would be a worthwhile move to make so that all the threads pertaining to the swaps are kept in one location.
Folks... the main purpose of this thread is to get some ideas generated. All ideas and inputs are what I am looking for.
Can we agree to let everyone voice up their recommendations and leave it at that?
Thanks y'all.
I feel this swap debate is making a mountain out of a molehill. I am really tired of people using sarcasism to illustrate their point! In life you will miss out on many things much more important than a jig swap for what ever reason. You've all heard the saying "if you fall, get up and keep going". Well, that's life. If you miss a swap, deal with it, don't blame the swap meister, the rules, or other people that "live on the computer". Either
wait for the next one or start your own. As I suggested before have the
once a month Crappie JIg Swap etched in stone with a sign up time and end time. That doesn't mean there can't be a 1/100 oz jig swap, a smallie swap
or some other specific swap.
As far as dropouts, shorted jigs those will continue to happen (again that's part of life) and should be dealt with accordingly. I completely disagree with
the idea that the swap meister is there because he's greedy or has the need to be a "generalisamo". There is too much detail to take care of to do it for that reason. I also disagree with the idea of favoritism. The sign up is there for everyone to see, so how can you favor someone? The only issue I see here is that signups must be made on the thread, not by PM.
Because of age, school, work, illness, death, or what ever someone is always going to "miss the boat". DEAL WITH IT! Get in, stay out, wait for the next one or start your own. Lighten up, enjoy your time on earth and
let's stop firing shots at each other over something that is a miniscule part of
life. If you go fishing and fail to catch fish, do you drop out and never fish again? I certainly hope not or we would all be drop outs!
Let's thank Slab, for developing a site we all appreciate and use. Let's not muddy the water around our boat by engaging in petty conversation.
There are some really intelligent, giving, nice people on this site and that is rare. Let's get past this stumbling block and get back to tieing and sharing!!!!
Crappiekiller3
Sittin here wishin I was out fishin!!!
Thanks CK3,I agree 10000%. Let's drop the attitude and get back to having fun. A special thanks to SLAB for allowing jig swaps. My turn as a meister will be coming soon and I'm gonna have fun with it. I'm all for other swaps like smallies, trout and panfish as well. There should be something for everyone here and I feel there is.
I feel this whole thread is not even necessary. I agree there are a few problems to sort out. I agree the swaps should be open to anyone that wishes to particpate. I agree with many other ideas on here, too numerous to list. I disagree with the wording of some of the posts by the self proclaimed veteran tiers. These swaps are supposed to be fun. Get a willing group of participants together, tie a few jigs, put them in the mail. Makes no difference if you have tied for years, or for days. All these rules and demands are going to keep some folks from even reading the posts in the future. Keep it simple, keep it enjoyable, and let's stop being so demanding. We are tying jigs, not running a corporation. I have to follow rules at work. Tying jigs is not my job, but I will continue to do my best to get jigs mailed in a timely manner if I choose to participate in any more swaps. All the nonsense leads me to believe all are not welcome.
