Hello fellow IA crappie addicts! I'm new to this site and thought I'd share a bit. I do most of my fishing at lake McBride and Red Rock. Both have great fishing at times. I enjoy jigging brush with 10' poles and trolling flats. I'm going to expand and try Coralville res this year, as I've been told I'm missing out on some great crappie action IF I can locate the piles. Do any of you fish here? I'll report back when I get the chance to try it and any other reports I can manage. Come on spring!!

Why wait till spring? The lake is open, I drove out and looked at Macbride State Park yesterday. I'm probably going first thing in the morning! I take it you have a boat since you like to troll?

I did manage to make it out Friday. Early in the morning there was still quite a bit of ice here and there. By late afternoon most of it was gone. I'm sure it is by now. I was only able to get to one of my brush piles because of the ice. Pulled 3 eaters off of it. I have about 6 or 7 brush piles that I frequent in a day's fishing. Usually I get 3-7 fish off each brush pile so not bad I guess, considering. I made a short video lol...

I drove by Saylorville and Big Creek today. Too much ice still out there. I don't get excited about getting out till the docks are in. I am looking forward to a trip to Truman in either April or May

Fish McBride and Coralville occasionally and like them both. Spend most time in pool 17 of this Mississippi. Welcome to the site.

Fished Red Rock Sunday. Sad to say my only excuse for not catching a bag full was the wind. BRUTAL!!! Water was exceptionally clear for RR and the fish were just plain negative. Fished sallow deep, and the cover in between, nothing...

Wow that's a pretty good drive from Cedar Rapids! What was the water temp?
