Tried to take a page out of jaypayton6 playbook and went to Monroe today with my crankbait box. Apparently I CAN get my cranks down deeper than 11 feet as I lost 3 due to hangups in about 17 ft of water. No walleye, no wipers, no suspended crappie on the cranks.
Went to spider rigging... caught all kinds of crappie... nothing to clean. That place is wearing me out.
I need to thump some bluegill and redear somewhere to get my mojo back.

That stinks, did you try were I told You I caught those crappie? The cold front might have gave them lock jaw. I am going to try this weekend if I can. Hope to see you out there. Crooked creek gave up 18 9+ redear and bluegill the other day on baby night crawlers no weight just slow drifting. Iam glad to see they put a ramp in there used to be a pain to put in there.

Have you tryed Griffey lake in bloomington there are some big gills in there close to you .

ahhh.. havent done any big motor crankbait trolling for a long time. Kinda rusty. Just trying to expand and catch some of the bigguns . Had good success at KY lake before using crawdad color in June...trolling over humps in blood river where fish were suspended. When we hit one, we would throw out a marker and then make more passes on that area...if nothing, then pick up and move on. On the crappie you would feel a bump...and had to look back to see if a big pair of lips were dragging behind you as they immediately come to the top and offer little fight. I trolled the big water below the causeway yesterday... saw a lot of fish on my locator...just nothing to hit my baits. Could have been the cold turning them off. I just need to get more experience as to where to do the trolling.
Not fished Griffy....but some people that I met ice fishing said the program to kill weeds there was hurting the gill fishing they thought.
