Thread: Geist spawn??

Has anyone been fishing geist or morse? Just wondering if you think the crappie have spawned already? I went sunday to geist and caught 250 8-10inchers only 8 nice keepers. This time last year we caught alot of 12-14inchers shallow. We fished shallow, deep, backs of coves, points, you name it we did it. The keepers still had eggs, but not full. I don't understand what these fish are doing right now. I seen fry but not sure if its bass or crappie fry. Any ideas what the fish are doing???

I've been out there also the last two weekends and agree with you. We have caught numbers but not too many big ones. It does seem like the biggers ones we caught were 2' off bank in less than 2' of water, so this tells me they are doing their thing right now. Biggest one I caught was only 12" and lots of 9 to 10 inch fish. I personally prefer the small fish to eat but would rather catch the bigger ones

Kinda what I thought. Everyone is tight lipped..LOL

I have not been to Giest but comparing it to Mississenwa and Kokomo I would say the spawn is happening now. We only 50 miles north and 75% of the females (that we catch) still have eggs. In fact they are about ready to burst. I'm catching all of mine 18"-24" down in 2-5 FOW.
