    Default John Hays

Anybody have any reports of the bluegill and redear bite? I'm thinking about getting my pass and giving it a shot this weekend.

Locator.... I was there a week ago, so my info is stale. My first time there...and took my SIL,daughter, and wife. We only fished 1/3 of the lake and didn't know what we were doing. We spent some time crappie fishing only to get into some bluegill later. The SIL kept sneaking out the bass rod. I did notice the weeds growing pretty good and fish were in the weeds. We didn't get to spend much time there...but as we came back across the lake to the ramp we all got a few whiffs of spawning fish. I think fishing should be good there now. I certainly would like to go back. That last 1/4 mile of road is a doozy.

Here are a few pictures of the catch. The guy with the big fish is my SIL.

I know what you mean about the weed growth in that lake. I think I'll give it a try.

Went to J Hay today (thurs May 7) and came home with 60 gills and 7 red ear. Was going to mess around with the crappie but was having too much fun gill fishing. The weeds in that lake are growing fast ! I think in 2-3 weeks you can just walk across the water... forget the boat.
