Over? Not! Just getting ready to start, so be ready:D

Went to Hardy sat, it was a tough bite. Got four keepers, biggest was
13 inches. Couple caught at the bank in wood. I think soon as the
water temp rises a little and the weather stabilizes along with lake
levels, it should be on and poppin!

Fishing those lake right now is hit and miss, mostly miss for me. I talked to some buddies who have done great on Patoka recently, I myself have been searching Hardy with mixed results, and have a neighbor who just got back from John Hays, and caught a ton of fish but they were all very small. I too think the best fishing is right around the corner, maybe this weekend.

thanks for the info, i caught some fish about 4 weeks ago and all of them had eggs in them the few i have caught the past couple of weeks didn't have any eggs. I personally didn't think they would do a whole lot until the water temp. reached about 61 to 65 and i finally hit some water at 60 at patoka sunday.

the ones you are catching with no eggs are probably males. the males are everywhere right now getting ready for the females to come in. spawn should be in next 2 weeks. full moon next week.

    full moon next week.
And in crappie fishing effect, what's that mean? Saw a thread a while back about moon phase, don't recall what it said about it though. Full moon = good? Bad? Bite before? Bite after? Bite during? Spawn coincides with?

I was on 4-26 and 4-29 on both trips I caught spawned out females. Actually only caught one female that wasn't. This is not to say that I think all the fish at Patoka are spawned out.

most places the black crappies have already spawned. Depending on your water temps, you still might be able to find some late spawning whites though. Last black crappies i caught at brookville were over a week ago, and the last few days, have been catching smaller whites, male and females.
If your still looking for bank thrashing slabs, go to the southern most end, or the coldest water end of your lake and try there, you might find some late stragglers.
