If you dress for it, you will be ok. I have 2 complete, gortex suits myself and have been going thru all my ice fishing gear today. 3 inches on the small ponds around here this morning and bays on some bigger lakes freezing quickly now. But i also have 2 big months of heavy work schedule, then when I hit March, can fish any time I want for next 4-5 months straight.

Yeah, I have an arctic armour suit. With a base layer and some good boots, I'll fish all winter as long as I have good water.

Locator79, here is something I picked up last month that works very well for a base layer. I have so much gear from hiking, backpacking in the mountains myself that I could outfit a small army..

they have a top also. Get it wet and it’s better than down when damp or wet.

I'll look into those. Love Cabela's in house lifetime warranty.

Hey, you got out there and tried. Hope you have better luck next time. I am biting the bullet myself to fish and jacking with equipment and have the boat ready and serviced as I won’t have time after today for the next 2 months.
