went to catarac today 3-20-10 spyder rigged caught around 150 crappie about 60 keepers water clear for the lake this time of year useing blue and chart jig fished 6 hours good day, keep boat in 10 to 12 feet of water fished 6 to 8 feet deep we minnow tiped our jigs dont get any better than this at catarac

We too were out there spider rigging pushing jigs with crappie nibbles and tipped with minnows. we ended up with 70 one over 14" and probably only 20 that was under 10".
Great day out there we turned them all but 12 back including the 14" fish.
I wasn't going to keep any but a buddy in another boat wanted some fish so we kept enough for a mess.
We caught them from 4' to 18' of water. Most of them came from 4' including the 14" fish which was full of eggs.

Good job guys. Thanks for the report. One man's success story as opposed to another man's folley. I hate to admit it...but I went to cataract on Sat and didn't do well. I was just tossing jigs....however saw several people float fishing with minnows and catching them. Minnows seemed to be the ticket. I do admit to spending a lot of time playing with boat gadgets and not too serious on the fishing side of it. Still in boat shake down phase.
