Where is the best place to get a deal on crappie rigs, or on the components (three way swivels, barrel swivels, egg sinkers) to make them?
i tried that last season and found that it is just as easy to go to gander mountain and buy the rig already manufactured. I also found that Meijer Grocery sells a couple different panfish rigs for about a $1 a peice and all you have to do is add a weight to it. They work great!

I just come up from the bell sinker and tie loop knots. Has worked for years, but then I'm a little cheaper than most
I'm not sure how elaborate your pre-made rigs would be. For swivels, snap swivels, 3-way swivels, bell sinkers, egg sinkers, and line....probably get those all at wally world about as cheap as anywhere. Now if you dress them up with blades, reflective tape, and beads... you can find a variety of those in Janns Netcraft out of Ohio..or barlows tackle in Texas as mentioned by Goldeneye. You may find a variety of beads at hobby lobby. My last purchase for blades and swivels for horse head jigs was from Barlows. Jigs or hooks or cranks to your choosing. Another thing that is handy are those round rubberized cylinders the walleye fishermen use to store their pre-made nightcrawler harnesses on. You can find those at Gander Mtn.
I can remember buying pre-made "kentucky rigs" in the early 70's. They consisted of a bell sinker, some heavy line, a couple drop hooks for minnows and a loop at the top...all wrapped around a small paper tube for storage. I can remember the folks with their Long telescoping poles using those rigs to bounce along the river channel edge in Ky lake. They put piano wire in the end section of their poles to give them a unique action. You could just buy capps and coleman rigs from Monk's crappie.

Bass Pro has the ready to go double rigs in several different hook sizes. You just add the weight on the bottom swivel. They are only 99 cents each. I got 25 the last time I was down at Clarksville. I am calling the boys basketball regional at Seymour on the radio this Saturday and plan on going there between games.
I built some last winter. Got the wires, line from Grizzly. Hook, swivels, snaps from Cabela's. Already had weights. The beads and plastic bags from Hobby Lobby. Total cost ended up being $.39 for each rig. Buy them in a store $1 to $1.39. It was winter and didn't have anything else to do.
I'd be interested in hearing how everyone builds their rigs. Pictures would be great. I usually just fish with one jig / hook at a time. And SpecBuster, you better fatten up the wallet b4 going to basspro...

Thanks for the info guys. Found the best deal for all the components at Grizzly Jig. If you want to buy them, they sell their own and the Capps and Coleman variety.
I build my own with components from Grizzly jig. I build the standard caps and coleman with different size weights and also build some with a bell sinker on the bottom and 2 three way swivels. I put each one in a sandwich bag and lay them flat in the bottom of the tackle box. I use 12 pound test line for the line between the swivels and 8lb test snelled to red sickle hooks. This way if you get really hung up bad and need to break off, most of the time just the hook is lost.
It's something to do in the winter when the weather is bad.
